Four Day Externship in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy

with EFT trainer Jill Fischer, LICSW

The Externship in EFT is the basic four-day training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and a pre-requisite for all other trainings as well as for certification. It includes an overview of all aspects of the model including steps and stages, interventions, adult attachment theory, and application of EFT with couples and families.

The Externship material is taught using lecture, interactive discussions, role plays, video demonstrations and live session consultations.

Who Should Attend?
The Externship is recommended for all types of mental health clinicians who counsel couples. This training is specifically focused on the use of EFT with couples.

Brief Objectives:
Externship participants learn how to view relationship distress from an attachment perspective, help partners reprocess the emotional experiences that led to their relationship distress, help couples create new bonding events, and work with clinical impasses.  Participants will learn the steps and stages of the model, interventions most commonly used, and how to work with each couple's underlying interactional pattern.

Participants are strongly encouraged to read the basic handbook of EFT by Sue Johnson, EdD, The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy: Creating Connections (2004) , prior to the Externship.

Transforming Shattered Bonds: Addressing Affairs and Attachment Injuries with EFT’s Attachment Injury Resolution Model

Instructor: Lorrie Brubacher, M.Ed., LMFT, RMFT

When: March 29-30, 2019, Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-5
Where: Smith College Conference Center, 51 College Lane, Northampton, MA

This two-day workshop is an advanced master class in Emotionally Focused Therapy designed to address the “never again” moments that can interfere in a couple’s healing process.

EFT-rope-image-300x220.jpg

These deep attachment injuries often surface as the content that never goes away, the apologies that never makes the mark, the incidents that resurface again and again no matter how much time has gone by. Lorrie Brubacher, M.Ed, EFT Trainer, has developed, together with Dr. Lillian Buchanan, an elegant and comprehensive treatment approach to effectively help couples resolve and repair these attachment injuries once and for all.

The Attachment Injury Repair Model (AIRM) is a necessary part of every EFT therapist’s toolbox, and Lorrie Brubacher will lead us through each step and intervention with a mix of didactic, visual, and experiential learning. Come join us in learning the roadmap for repairing relationships devastated by betrayal and bonds shattered by broken trust. A live consultation specific to an attachment injury is planned with a case presentation for role play as an alternative.
